Financial Failure for Vale
Friday the 9th of March 2012 was a very sad day for Port Vale Football Club when Bob Young and Steve Currie were appointed as administrators of the one hundred and thirty six year old club. Recent financial troubles have forced Vale into this decision after wages were not payed for last January and players are left in some cases penniless. Manager Micky Adams was told to tell the players that heir wages would not be played after their one all draw with local rivals Crew Alexandra. However, there is good news coming through this because since administrators have been appointed, six investment offers have been made. Although, it is not Micky Adams fault, reports have shown that Adams is on the wage of a Championship manager. On the 14th of March 2012 Manager Adams was called into a meeting by the administrators to discuss his position in the club. It is believed that Currie and Young told Adams that the club would be content to keep him on as Manager and would hope that Adams would be involved with club matters for the foreseeable future. Although, Vale have gone into administration and have been deducted ten points, this situation has not been resolved because if an investor cannot be found, liquidation is almost imminent. Vale now lie fifteenth in the table and only eleven points above the relegation zone which may not sound so catastrophic but if you take into consideration that they were only two points out of the playoff places; the situation has rapidly changed for the worse. Recent events at Vale Park have affected teachers of NCHS as our English teacher Mr Jones has been a lifelong Valiant’s fan and current proceedings have left doubts in his mind over the clubs morals.

New Accident and emergency unit opens for North Staffordshire
A total of around 10 000 patients will be treated at the new centre of modern technology. Julia Bridgewater the chief executive has declared “it is the best accident and emergency unit in the whole of Europe”.

These new facilities will benefit our community massively due to the increase in the number of patients as the old A&E could not cope with the demand.

Three towns develop into Cities to mark Queen’s Diamond Jubilee
Three small towns in Great Britain have been turned into cities to celebrate Her Majesty’s Diamond Jubilee. Chelmsford in the southeast of England, Perth in the east of Scotland and St Asaph in North Wales had to beat twenty two other towns to become cities in honour of Queen Elizabeth’s Jubilee. The new cities will not receive any power or extra funds for the councils. In the UK there are now 66 cities. The last towns which were developed into cities were Preston, Newry, Lisburn and Newport in 2002 to celebrate the Queen’s golden jubilee. Brighton and Hove, Inverness and Wolverhampton were awarded the title to mark the new millennium. St Asaph with a population of 3,500 is now the smallest city in the UK. Only one town was supposed to become a city but the government said that there would be a winner for England, Scotland and Wales to show that all the countries in the UK are important.

Nurture
Nurture is an early morning curricular club where extra education is given to pupils who struggle in certain subjects. The club aids children who need support in areas of topics in which teachers cannot help them with. Activities such as circle time are played to get children to answer questions when the ball is thrown to them. I believe that this will boost young adult’s confidence as they will be able to speak out in public without any difficulties or speech lapses. A regular member of this club called Fabien said that the club is very helpful and he feels that his education has improved since he has attended the Nurture Club.
