Construction
The BTEC Extended Certificate in Construction Skills is currently being run for years 10 & 11.
The pupils learn about many areas of construction including:
- Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) – Where and when to use the equipment, what it is used for and why it is used.
- Plumbing Skills – The pupil learn how to use a range of tools used for plumbing and learn how to plumb a sink unit in and a radiator.
- Bricklaying – The pupils learn how to brick lay, mix the correct sand and cement using accurate measurements, measuring accurately and setting out for bricklaying and use the tools correctly.
- Roofing – The pupils learn how to measure and set out a rood ready for tiling, accurately tile and lead waterproof a roof.
- Joinery – The pupils learn how to use a range of joinery tools and measure and cut a range of joints.
Each pupil will be taught how to correctly use all of the tools and how to accurately order the correct amount of equipment required for each specific task.
Evidence is taken throughout each process to enable the pupils to gain a good knowledge and reach their potential grade.
