At Key Stage 4 all students currently follow OCR GCSE syllabus in English. High achievers study for two GCSE’s, comprising of English Language and English Literature. The department is embracing a new syllabus which entails controlled Assessment as 60% of the GCSE course. We are very excited about the new opportunities this new syllabus has to offer, believing the content to be engaging and embracing of a new generation in new world of Media.
Our department utilises mentoring, collapsed revision days and after-school revision clubs as a means of offering students every opportunity to meet their potential in this subject.
The department is now readily preparing for the new OCR GCSE specifications in English, English Language and Literature with enthusiasm. We are keen to adopt a collaborative approach to planning these schemes of work so that a variety of approaches to learning is adopted. We are also dedicated to encouraging our pupils to become confident independent learners who will be able to embrace the transition to further education beyond the school with confidence and self-belief.
